Taylor Wormington

Taylor obtained an Honours Bachelor of Social Sciences in Political Science (magna cum laude) and his Juris Doctor (summa cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. Both degrees were obtained simultaneously in 2020 through the course of a combined program in French. Upon graduating from law school, he received the University of Ottawa Silver Medal for the second-highest cumulative grade point average in the Common Law program.

In law school, Taylor developed a keen interest in environmental law. For two years, he worked as a research assistant for Professor Nathalie J. Chalifour, focussing on issues pertaining to environmental law and constitutional law. He co-authored a paper with two professors on modernizing the peace, order, and good government doctrine in the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act appeals. The article was ultimately cited by the Supreme Court of Canada. He finished law school having completed an option in environmental law.

During his time in the University of Ottawa’s Common Law program, he worked as a teaching assistant for two courses, a research assistant for an additional professor, and a peer mentor for first-year law students. He also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Ottawa Law Review’s French articles.

Following his graduation from law school, Taylor clerked at the Court of Appeal for Ontario for Associate Chief Justice J. Michal Fairburn, Justice Paul S. Rouleau, and Justice Lois B. Roberts. Afterwards, he clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Mahmud Jamal. At Cambridge, he hopes to explore his newfound passion for criminal law and further develop his interest in environmental law.
